Taylor Armstrong's First Interview: UPDATED!

Jason LaVeris via Getty Images

Tonight on Entertainment Tonight, Taylor Armstrong will break her silence about her marriage, the abuse, and the tragic death of her estranged husband, Russell.

In the interview Taylor describes the abuse, "He would grab me by one side of the hair on my head and bang the other side of my head against the car." Tearily she recounts an episode where Russell took her by the throat, pinned her against the wall, and threatened her life... all because she neglected to include vegetables with their pizza.

In a statement to ABCNews, Russell's lawyer Ronald Richards defended his client, saying, "At no time prior to Mr. Armstrong’s death did Taylor Armstrong file a police or medical report indicating she was the victim of domestic violence."

When asked about why she is speaking out now knowing that Russell is not here to defend himself, Taylor responded, "He doesn't need my protection anymore, but there are a lot of women in this world that probably do."

Bravolebrity News & Gossip has written an article dedicated to Taylor's charity which helps battered women and children.

Reuters is reporting that Taylor will also appear on an upcoming episode of Dr. Phil. Watch excerpts of tonight's ET interview below, and to find airtimes check local listings or ET's website.

Bravolebrity Charity Spotlight: 1736 Family Crisis Center

Taylor Armstrong speaking at 1736 Charity Event, credit: Bravo TV

For all the drama and catfights that we've grown to expect of our favorite Bravolebrities, there is another common activity that many Real Housewives and Top Chefs participate in: Charity. One of the purposes of this new Bravolebrity blog will be to showcase various charities favored by or founded by the bravo stars we love to watch. Considering the events that have been occupying RHOBH news outlets of late, we've decided to start with 1736 Family Crisis Center, the organization that was made known to many Bravo watchers last season when Taylor Armstrong held a charity event and gave a moving speech about her experiences with childhood domestic abuse.

The 1736 Crisis Center is a private, non-profit organization helping runaway youth and homeless children, battered women and their children, and other people in need. Since 1972 the Crisis Center has worked to improve the lives of these individuals with a focus on empowerment and long-term safety as well as help with depression, anxiety and trauma. In addition to Taylor Armstrong, other celebrities that support 1736 Crisis Center are Christina Aguilera and Miley Cyrus.

In the first season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills we watched Taylor participate in a charity event for the Crisis Center where stars like Annie Duke and Jose Canseco raised money in a poker championship next to RHOBH stars Adrienne Maloof and husband, Paul Nassif. Taylor gave a speech about her childhood history with domestic abuse and was moved to tears, as were many viewers. Upon watching the clip again, it is chilling to see her husband looking on, considering Taylor's charges that he was also physically abusive. There is no way to know whether the pain she felt giving the speech was from events in her distant or recent past, but her speech is an emotional reminder that anyone, no matter how rich or famous, can be a victim of abuse.

The Truth About Skinnygirl Margaritas

Bethenny Frankl photo: CNN

Bethenny Frankl's Skinnygirl empire is facing a little hiccup today with reports that Whole Foods will no longer be selling her Skinnygirl Margaritas due to a contraversial preservative ingredient.

Sodium Benzoate is a preservative found in almost every name brand soda and many fruit juices, as well as condiments and even beauty products like lotion and liquid soap. It protects against the growth of bacteria, yeast and fungi that could be dangerous when consumed. In fact, Whole Foods even uses sodium benzoate in their 365 brand of body lotions.

However, the preservative is also known to cause severe allergic reaction in some people. From skin irritations to asthma, this ingredient is one you should avoid if you are allergic, just as Whole Foods avoids selling any soda that contains the preservative.

A representative from Skinnygirl told TMZ, "We understand their position and we respect that," and Bethenny had this to say to Access Hollywood, "I'm not making wheatgrass here. If I could put an agave plant and some limes on a shelf I would. [The Skinnygirl Margarita] is as close to nature as possible, while still being a shelf-stable product. ... We were bound to piss someone off and everyone loves to try to tear down a success. This is a non-event. I haven’t lost even a wink of sleep.”

As more and more Americans begin to pay attention to ingredients in their food and beauty products, one hopes that Frankl's upcoming skin care line will be cautious about the preservatives they choose. In the meantime we should recognize that Skinnygirl Margaritas are one of thousands of beverages in your local grocer to contain sodium benzoate. Just ask Coke-a-cola.

Bravo Will Air Suicide-Prevention PSA's

picktainment.com
The upcoming season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills might be the most anticipated season of the franchise to date with so much swirling around the national news and blogosphere regarding the recent death of Russell Armstrong. While the series is sure to be controversial, Bravo is doing its best to handle it with care.

Beginning with the premiere episode Bravo will air an interview with some of the cast members, and what's more, the New York Times is reporting that there will be public service announcements throughout the season connecting viewers with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

The Real Housewives cast members have often used the show's platform to promote charities, and this seems like a rather fitting approach. NYTimes stated, "The public service announcements are a result of a partnership with the Entertainment Industries Council Inc., which promotes accurate depictions of health and wellness issues in the entertainment media."

Matt Nordgren: from football to the Bachelor?

Matt Nordgren credit:Bravo
In the Examiner's new interview, Matt Nordgren, star of Bravo's Most Eligible Dallas, opens up about dating, football, and reality tv.

Nordgren was a quarterback at University of Texas before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2006, but an injury ended his football career. He'd been approached by reality casting hopefuls, but hadn't found the right fit until Bravo's Most Eligible Dallas came along.

It seems with women he is equally as selective. On the show Matt continuously professes that he is not ready for marriage, and is only interested in having fun. This doesn't seem to hinder him from considering appearing on the Bachelor, though.

In September of last year Nordgren stepped out on a dinner date at west hollywood's famous Dan Tana's restaurant with former Bachelor winner (and current Bachelor Pad star) Vienna Girardi.

And when Examiner.com asked Matt if he'd consider going on the Bachelor, he replied, "I definitely would. There have been times before when I was going to do the show. I'd have to be sure that I’m ready to get married. For the first time in life, I think I'm there."
